When the GradyBunch go on tour in a city, there are always a lot of km covered in a day… And today was no different!
We started the morning on the Metro to Place de la Concorde. After inspecting the 3300 year old pink granite obelisk, we ventured up the Champs-Élysées.  Initially this meant Christmas markets but we quickly found ourselves amongst the flagship stores and prestige labels.  Most interesting were the car showrooms – absolute prime real estate for the likes of Citroen, Peugeot and Toyota!
At the top is the Arc de Triomphe – a striking structure that is only second to the Eiffel Tower as an icon of Paris.  We climbed over 300 winding steps up to the top, but the view across Paris were well worth it.
Once again, the weather had been extremely kind, and we were able to get clear views of Montmartre, down the Champs-Élysées, and towards the Grande Arche at La Defense.  There are also shrinking views of the Eiffel Tower from the Arc de Triomphe, however at this time of year the placement of the sun makes a photograph impossible… We need to have words about that!
After a wander back down the Champs-Élysées, we headed over to the Paris Opera & the department store Galeries Lafayette.  We’ve heard that the Christmas displays are outstanding, but never expected a major retailer to be closed on a Sunday.  Regardless, we enjoyed the Christmas windows.

We finished the day with a trip to the Trocadero and to get some photos of the Eiffel Tower.  The queue for the Tower was about 3 hours long, which would have meant we were up the top in the dark – better to come back another day.  Instead, we joined the thousands of tourists taking photos from every angle 🙂
A final wander through the Christmas Markets at Trocadero, and we headed back home for baguettes, Brie, pate and a drop of red… We could get used to this!
Love M & theBunch xx
