We’ve arrived safely back in Brisbane, unpacked the bags, organised the souvenirs and done copious amounts of washing. The girls were very pleased to see that Santa managed to stop on the way, and left a couple of highly sought after items.
When Andrew first suggested that we spend Christmas in Vietnam the girls and I weren’t convinced. For me, Vietnam represented a worn-torn country where we’d be focusing on recent war history – I wasn’t sure that this would be a trip for the whole family… How wrong I was!
Re-reading through the blog tonight, I can’t believe how much we’ve done and some of the things we’ve seen. The diversity of culture, landscape and activities that we’ve experienced has been amazing. There aren’t enough superlatives to do it justice. The blog has been a great way for me to record the trip, and I think it will be invaluable as I wade through the 2000-ish photos… Hats off to Andrew who has taken some fabulous shots along the way – the photography course was worth every cent!
We’ve all got so many highlights – favourite city, favourite food, best experience, favourite market, favourite museum, funniest moment, most bizarre thing we saw on a bike, weirdest thing we saw in a market… The girls’ perspectives on the trip are great – you’ll enjoy hearing about it from them so I won’t steal their thunder.
Without question, the Vietnamese people made the trip so special. They are warm, friendly, enterprising, family-oriented, hard-working and calm. We think the following poem translated from Vietnamese that appeared on the wall in Cuc Gach Quan (favourite restaurant) sums the people up…
To finish off, we’ve picked out a few of our favourite shots from the trip. Thanks for sharing our Vietnam adventure – hope you’ve enjoyed it!
Chao!
Love the GradyBunch xx
