It’s the inevitable blog post – ‘Heading home…’. Just as I read Out Stealing Horses as we headed to Norway, Saga Lands on the way through Iceland, I’ve now turned to Boy Swallows Universe as we head to Brisbane.

It was raining as we left Copenhagen. One last chance to bust out rain jackets before stowing ‘Winter’ in our backpacks ready for the flight.

We reflected on the trip over dinner last night. There have been so many places and experiences that have made this trip exceed all expectations…

It was also lovely to share some of the trip with Rachel. The last few years have been quite a journey, so it’s nice to have created memories that leave us in awe of the world.

My 10.3kg served me well, although I couldn’t have survived without a couple of additions – the fleece-lined wool mittens from Norway that allowed me to ‘double glove’, and the crampons that kept us upright throughout Iceland! Sadly, my hiking boots were unceremoniously dumped on the way home after requiring a daily dose of superglue to make it through the trip!

This is the longest that we’ve ever been away. I’m so grateful to everyone that has made it possible – Gina & Shobi for looking after our girls (Megg, Peggy and Princess Leia – we truly hope they delivered!) and our plants; Bart and the 3rdView team for closing out 2019 and kicking off 2020 at the office.

We’ve completed the long leg from Copenhagen, and are about to board in Singapore… there’s no place like home!

Hope you’ve enjoyed our trip as much as we have!!!

Love M & theBunch x
